ORDER OUT OF CHAOS: THE PURPOSE OF "DIVINATORY ART"
I call this particular style of artwork "divinatory" because these images are all extrapolated from randomized textures and colors through the process of "divination." This process of elucidating figures and even complex narratives from random paint daubs is analogous to the process we use (mostly as children) to interpret objects out of cloud formations. I apply random textures and colors and then when it's dry, I examine the result to see what reveals itself. Then , I delicately bring it out without disturbing it's original form, as though it were an excavation.
